The Benin Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Edo State Command, received a donation of a security post from the Rotary Club of Benin Metropolitan Chapter.
This is in furtherance of the long-standing partnership to support the Custodial Centre in the attainment of the mandate of securing inmates in custody.
The project, which was initiated by the Officer Incharge of the Custodial Centre, Deputy Controller of Corrections, DCC Sikiru Balogun, was fully completed by the club and handed over accordingly for use.
In a brief remark by the outgoing President of the Club, Rotarian Joseph Ogbemi, she said: "Benin Custodial Centre has long been registered as our pet project center." That the club will continue to support the Custodial Centre in spite of several signature projects already donated to it.
While commissioning the project for use, the Controller of Corrections, Ogwude Charles, appreciated Rotary Club Benin Metropolitan for their humanitarian activities and their regular support to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
The Controller, who was represented by the Officer Incharge of the Custodial Centre, DCC Sikiru Balogun, assured that the project would be put to good use and called on the general public to partner with the service for the good of society.
Present at the event were the President-elect of the Club Chapter, Rotarian Cash Nehizena, the Vice President, Rotarian Edugie Mabel, and the Command PRO of NCoS, among others.
