OYO CONTROLLER SENDS BEST WISHES TO 21 NECO EXAMINATION PARTICIPANTS IN AGODI CUSTODIAL CENTRE

The Controller of Corrections in Oyo State, Ailewon Noel has wished the 21 Students of Agodi Custodial Centre in Ibadan, Oyo State that will be commencing the NECO Examination all the best in their papers. The participating students whose first subject will be Agricultural Practical in this year 2021 are already in examination mood. The Controller in his message to the students encouraged them to study hard and be in the mood of relaxation all through the Exam period. He reassured them of success since they've been preparing for the examination for a while now. He further reiterated the fact that imprisonment is never an excuse to improve and develop oneself stating that they can definitely be whoever they want to be. Preparations have been ongoing for months towards getting the participants ready for the exams. Various NGOs and the NYSC have been assisting the Nigerian Correctional Service by sending professional teachers to the Agodi centre to prepare the students towards passing the examination. One of the 21 participating inmates is a female and she's registered to sit for Science Examination with 4 other male inmates while 14 students are registered to write Arts Examination. The remaining 2 are registered for Commercial Exams. While efforts to register a NOUN centre in the facility which will enable successful inmates to further their studies to University level is close to being a success, a number of acquitted Awaiting Trial Inmates that seized the opportunity to write and pass the exam in the past three years that the centre started have since gained admission into various universities across Nigeria. This is in line with the mandate of the NCoS Act of 2019 that makes a sharp deviation from punitive treatment of offenders to corrective and world best measures that will see them being reintegrated into the society as reformed and responsible individuals.
