The Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Olanrewaju Oloyede, OFR, FNAL, has said that his experience working closely with the NCoS has brought him to the realization that, ‘Correctional Service is a humanitarian Service. He made this assertion while receiving the Acting Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, MFR, mni, on a courtesy visit at the JAMB Headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.

In his remarks, the Acting CGC appreciated the JAMB Registrar for the strong partnership and for providing juvenile offenders the opportunity to sit for the University Matriculation Examinations (UME) seamlessly through CBT Centres located in key Borstal Training Institutes (BTIs). He also stated that the opportunity offered through this strategic partnership has tremendously impacted the students positively, thus, turning them from the path of criminality and redirecting them back on track. In furtherance, the Ag. CGC highlighted the various behavioral change therapies employed by the Service to reform, rehabilitate and reintegrate young offenders, adding that education is a major tool in actualising the Service's mandates.

Responding, the JAMB Boss lauded the Nigerian Correctional Service for the sacrifice and essential services being rendered towards ensuring the well-being of the legally interned and for creating a diversionary pathway for juvenile offenders to further their education while undergoing reformatory programmes. He highlighted the depth of partnership the Board has with the Service and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening and sustaining the collaboration towards saving the future of young offenders.
