In furtherance of the Ministry of Interior’s reform agenda to institutionalize accountability, performance culture and measurable results across its agencies in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has formalized the signing of its Performance Bond Contract.
The Performance Bond contains the implementation roadmap and operational benchmarks for complete deployment of the Service’s Performance Management System (PMS) across all the eight Directorates of the Service. The document, which clearly specifies targets, timelines, responsibilities, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and measurable deliverables, was duly signed by all Directorate Heads during the closing ceremony of the 3-Day Capacity Building Training by Zimedy Services Limited.
It will be recalled that the Controller General of Corrections Sylvester Nwakuche, MFR, mni, alongside other Controllers General of Services under the Ministry of Interior, had earlier appended his signature to the institutional Performance Bond with the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during the recent Ministerial Retreat held at Zuma Rock Hotel, Suleja, Abuja.
The current phase signifies the cascading of that commitment down the Directorates level to ensure alignment, enforcement, structured monitoring and accountability at every tier of management leadership within NCoS.
Speaking on the development during the performance roadmap presentation, the Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche noted that the Service is fully keying into the renewed service culture of performance-based governance championed by the Honourable Minister, assuring that the Service will ensure strict adherence to the Bond, strengthen internal evaluation mechanisms, adopt modern data-driven performance tools and drive stronger results in line with national expectations for corrections transformation.
The signing of the Performance Bond signals another strategic milestone for the NCoS in its modernization journey and further reinforces the renewed value system of standards, transparency, improved work ethics, measurable productivity and enhanced service delivery in the Nigerian Correctional Service.
