NCoS ACADEMY, IJEBU-IGBO GRADUATES PART.

Sequel to the signing into law of the Nigerian Correctional Service Act 2019 as part of the strategic effort to reform the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Service has since put in place measures to improve the service through training and retraining of staff of the service. It is in this light that the Acting Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche Mni MFR in his magnanimity instituted the 16th Advanced Command Course which started on the 13th of January and ends 21st of February 2025.

The Acting Controller General of Corrections, who was represented by ACG Ope Fatinikun, the Zonal Coordinator Zone A disclosed in his address that the Advanced Command Course is designed to make the Controller of Corrections more seasonal and more productive to the service and to the Nation in the area of maintenance of peace and security.

Reminding them of the need to uphold ethical conduct and loyalty to the service and the Nation at large, he explained that, Correctional Officers are entrusted with the duty of safeguarding the lives, dignity and rights of those in their custody, towards creating a safe and secured environment for them, especially in the areas of reformation, rehabilitation and reintegration into the society.

The acting CG charged the Controllers of Corrections to embrace values and integrity, fairness and respect for the rules of law, and adhere to the codes of conduct that guide the operation of the service.

ACG, Ope Fatinikun emphasized that the Controllers are agents of change and transformation. Hence, the need for them to strive to create an environment conducive to reformation, considering that, they are not only serving the nation but contributing to a safer and just society for the common good.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo for providing the Service with an enabling environment and building the workforce of staff for effective service delivery.

ACG Fatinukun commended the commandant of the Nigeran Correctional Academy ACG Fatodu Victoria Modupe, the directing staff and instructors for their dedication to building the professional standard of staff of the service.

A total of 22 Controllers of Corrections attended the 16th Advanced Command Course.
