COMMISSIONING OF THE ENHANCED E-PASSPORT PRODUCTION CENTRE FOR AKWA IBOM, BAYELSA, CROSS RIVER AND RIVERS STATES IN PORT-HARCOURT BY THE HON. MINISTER OF INTERIOR, OGBENI RAUF AREGBESOLA.

COMMISSIONING OF THE ENHANCED E-PASSPORT PRODUCTION CENTRE FOR AKWA IBOM, BAYELSA, CROSS RIVER AND RIVERS STATES IN PORT-HARCOURT BY THE HON. MINISTER OF INTERIOR, OGBENI RAUF AREGBESOLA.

The Nigeria Immigration Service today rolled out the enhanced e-passport and commissioned the passport production centre in Port Harcourt.

In his speech, the Hon Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, stated that "the significance of a passport cannot be over emphasised, as it's the right of every citizen to have a valid passport, and it's of higher grand than the one in existence. This is to meet the demand for e-passports in the states at a centralised zonal office, as the Rivers centre covers 4 states."

He stated that the new e-passport will take 6 weeks to be issued, and there is no waiting to get a passport anywhere, and citizens should start processing for a new passport while the old one still has 6 months before its expiry date.

Anyone can apply online anywhere and locate the nearest immigration passport office in any of the states to get captured, and don't patronise touts or overzealous staff to get a passport.

In his conclusion, the Hon. Minister appreciated the Executive Governor of the state, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, POS (Africa) and urged him not to relent in his assistance to all agencies under the ministry of Interior.

In his response, the Governor of Rivers State, who is ably represented by Her Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Ipalibo Banigo, assured the minister that the Rivers State government is in support of any positive reforms to the ministry to move the state forward.

The Controller of Corrections, Rivers State Command, Lawrence Felix, also graced the occasion alongside other service commanders in the state.
