Ag. CGC Visits IGP

As part of ongoing efforts to reposition the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) and to consolidate on existing reforms through enhanced inter-agency collaboration, the Acting Controller General of Corrections Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, MFR, mni undertook a strategic engagement with the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD, NPM, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja on Friday 14th February, 2025.


During his remarks, the Ag. CGC highlighted ongoing reformation and rehabilitation efforts aimed at repositioning the Service while affirming that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) remains a major pillar in the nation’s Criminal Justice System, hence the synergy between the NCoS and the NPF is indispensable in ensuring swift dispensation of justice, protection of public safety, and the effective management of offenders.


The Inspector General in his response reinforced the shared vision while expressing confidence in the leadership of the Acting Controller General, pledging the commitment of the Nigerian Police Force in deepening the robust synergy.


The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to strengthening operational cooperation, fostering intelligence-driven strategies, and enhancing data-sharing mechanisms. Additionally, discussions were held on innovative and sustainable measures to address the persistent challenge of overcrowding in custodial centres in alignment with global best practices in corrections and public security.


The CGC reiterated the Service’s dedication to fostering institutional partnerships that will drive holistic criminal justice reforms for a safer and more secure society.
