The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency Mrs Hellen Eno Obariki, made a heartwarming visit to the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Uyo on Friday, February 7th, 2025, to donate essential items to the inmates in commemoration of the first anniversary of the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA), the pet project of her mother, the Late Pastor Mrs Patience Umo Eno.

In his address, the Officer Incharge, ACC Ezekiel Inyang, welcomed the First Lady to the facility and thanked her for the visit and her support to the Centre towards the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates back into society.

In a vote of thanks, the Controller of Corrections, Akwa Ibom State Command, CC Frank Okonkwo, FICMC, PSC+ appreciated Her Excellency for taking the time to visit the Uyo Custodial Centre. "Your presence and generous donation have brought immense joy and comfort to the inmates, providing them with much-needed support and encouragement during this time of confinement" he added. He also emphasized that Her Excellency's act of kindness and compassion will not be forgotten, and the Command is truly grateful for her continued support and commitment to improving and making a positive impact in the lives of the incarcerated.

In her remarks, the First Lady commended the efforts of the Command in providing safe and secure custody for the inmates. She stated that her visit to the Center was one of the activities to mark the first anniversary of the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA). She urged the Officers and Men to ensure that the Centre operates in line with the mandates of rehabilitation and reformation of the inmates, adding that her visits to the facility would be more regular.
