In a record breaking event of the Custodial Centre, 258 Inmates of Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) OKO Benin City Edo State participated in a hair cut welfare programme targeted at good hygiene and healthy practices in Inmates care and management. The figure is the highest of number of Inmates hair cut in a single day.
The event was organized by the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service in collaboration with God's Vision Soul Winning Foundation an NGO strategically partnering with the Command to achieve the Correctional Service goals of Inmates reformation, rehabilitation and effective reintegration back into the society.
The Controller of Corrections Edo State Command CCS Orhunmwonkpawan Julius Osemwegie expressed appreciation to the partnering NGO for the kind gesture towards the Welfare of the inmates in support of the efforts of the Correctional Service.
The Controller ably represented by CSC Patience Akele Idowu said that the programme will have positive impact in the health, well being and overall peace of the Custodial Centre.
In her remarks Evang (Dr.) Christabel Oboh, President of God's Vision Soul Winning Foundation said the NGO is collaborating with NCoS to give back to the society with focus on inmates in Custody. She praised the inmates for the display of commitment and for the participation in the programme. She also encouraged them to seek relationship with God and be sincerely reform in order to be better citizens.
Other side attraction of the programme is the delivery of speeches, goodwill messages, prayers, Garri and groundnut competition, Questions/Answer Section, and general counseling. A total of 15 barbers took part in the event.
